Music for Seniors

Hilary Harris has combined her love of Seniors with her love of music, and feels she has truly found her musical niche.  Music has power - especially with residents with Alzheimer's disease and dementia. In addition to just being entertaining, music can shift mood, manage stress-induced agitation, stimulate positive interactions and facilitate cognitive function. Selections from the resident's youth  tend to engage many patients and bring out a positive response. "I love hearing stories from the time when the songs were popular, and especially enjoy it when folks share their favorite memories connected to the music. It is so much fun to see somebody's face light up when they recognize a song from 'way back when'," she said. Hilary engages with the residents and gets feedback on songs in order to offer a wide repertoire of songs.

When Hilary performs for the Bay Area's Seniors, she tailors her musical set to the demographic of the audience. A wide repertoire of songs from the 1910's to the 1960's (think Frank Sinatra, Patti Page, Nat King Cole, Elvis, Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald, Benny Goodman, Fats Waller...Fats Domino...a little something for everyone!   
Hilary is the perfect act for concerts, music hour, Happy Hour, birthday parties, Holiday Celebrations or any other event that might be enhanced with live music.

Hilary performs with high quality backing tracks or with an accompanist (guitarist or pianist). Hilary provides a portable PA (amplification system).
